Everything has a beginning, a vision, an inspiration.

St. Catherine’s Home came into existence with the movement of the Spirit in an English Lady named Ida Dickinson.

Ida was visiting the catacombs in Rome and there she came across one of the grave stones on which it was engraved “This person was very great and beautiful and she spent her life for the poor, needy and distressed .” This person was none other than St. Catherine of Siena.

We remember with gratitude Ms. Ida Dickinson for her initiative and leadership and great LOVE  in  beginning St. Catherine’s Home.

We thank God for choosing the Daughters of the Cross to continue Ida’s work and take up this mission of love and compassion to the abandoned.

Dickinson could not carry on her mission in India due to her ill health. We remember with gratitude all our sisters/ helpers who worked tirelessly for the children and inmates of this home in the past 100 years. Joy and gratitude wells up in our hearts for the wonders God worked in our lives and through us in the lives of a huge number of children and women.

The milestone of 100 years was celebrated with gratitude right through the year with various programs to see the growth of all and appreciate the goodness manifested in different ways.
